Deadlines: Noon Tuesday for Wednesday Noon Friday for Sunday

The Whiteface Antelopes locked up a trip to the UIL Class 1A-1 high school football playoffs with a convincing 64-6 win over the visiting Meadow Broncos in last Thursday.

Whiteface is now 2-0 in district play after a 66-6 win over Wellman-Union on October 21.

Meadow got the ball first on their own 35-yard-line, but were forced to turnover on downs at the Whiteface 32.

Ethan Kauffman ran the first play from scrimmage for 10 yards, then ran the second play for a 38yard touchdown and an 8-0 lead after Damian Castaneda’s kick.

The Antelopes’ onside kick was recovered at the Meadow 29yard-line by Jeremiah Soliz.

Kauffman did the honors again for a 29-yard touchdown and a 16-0 lead less than three minutes into the game. The Broncos’ only score came on their next drive when, on second down and 12 at the Meadow 32yard-line.

Jimmy German ran for 46 yards and a first and goal at the Whiteface two-yard-line.

A two-yard run by Tate McBee cut the Whiteface lead to 16-6.

The Broncos threatened again late in the second quarter, but were stopped cold on the 21yard-line by the stiff Antelope defense.

Whiteface racked up 297 yards of offense compared to 118 for the Broncos.

Jeremiah Rendon threw the ball only once for a 13 yard touchdown caught by Jeremias Chavez.

Kauffman did yeoman service at running back, rushing for 238 yards on 12 carries with seven touchdowns.

Julio Borunda had two carries for 33 yards.

Chavez also had 6 ½ tackles. Kauffman and Auscar Gandara had 4 ½. Brighton Scoggins had 3 ½. Joel Fortner had 2 ½. Borunda had 1 ½ and Noah Rendon had a single tackle. Castenada was perfect 8-for-8 kicking extra points and Chavez had a 12 yard kick return. The Antelopes will travel to O’Donnell Friday to take on the Screamin’ Eagles at 7:30 p.m.
