Antelopes dominate Valley Patriots at 54-8, Mercy-Rule

The Whiteface Antelopes made short work of the visiting Valley Patriots 54-8 in UIL Class 1A 6-man football action last Friday.

The game was called at halftime on the 45-point mercy rule. The rule states that, in UIL 6man football, whenever one team is ahead by 45 points or more at halftime or after, the game is called.

“The guys played hard,” said Head Football Coach Clint Linman. “They continue to eliminate mistakes.”

Linman added that the goal is to continue to get better, “each day and each week.”

Jaxon Heflin ran the opening kickoff back 50 yards for the first touchdown of the night. The Antelopes followed with another 46 unanswered points before Valley finally got on the scoreboard late in the second quarter.

Ethan Kauffman had eight carries for 194 yards and three touchdowns. Julio Borunda had two carries for 41 yards. Damian Castaneda had a single 3-yard carry. Christ Olguin had one carry for no yards. Auscar Gandara had a carry that lost four yards and Heflin had three carries for minus six yards.

Jeremiah Rendon went 4-for-6 for 45 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Heflin had a single throw for a 17yard touchdown. Kauffman went 0-for-1.

Dane Damron had a 28-yard catch. Gandara had a 17-yard touchdown catch. Jeremias Chavez had a 10-yard touchdown catch. Noah Rendon had two catches for seven yards and a touchdown.

Kauffman had five tackles. Jeremiah Rendon had four. Chavez had three. Noah Rendon, Borunda, Heflin and Castaneda had one each.

The Antelopes traveled to Anton Friday for a 7:30 p.m. game. The Bulldogs are 0-3 and coming off a 32-7 loss to Lubbock Kingdom Prep Academy.
