Church service for Billy Joe Lewis, age 94, of Cypress, Texas was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15 at First Assembly of God Church in Morton with Brent Scoggins officiating. Burial was in Morton Memorial Cemetery. Billy Joe, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, was born to Fletcher Bartholomew and Dixie Rhea Lewis in Electra, Texas on December 29, 1929, and joined the chorus of the angels on June 7 in Cypress, Texas. Billy Joe met the love of his life, Patsy Nell Singleton, in Whiteface and they were married April 21, 1956, in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Jimmy Santiago Lopez Jr., 67 of Sundown passed from this life on June 3, in Sundown. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday June 18, at 2 p.m. at Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel in Levelland. Rosary will be held on June 18, at 12 p.m. prior to service time at funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Deacon Jesse Moreno. Music by Joe Flores. Interment to be announced at a later date. Jimmy was born to Santiago Sr. and Dolores Loza Lopez on January 28, 1957 in Tilden, Texas Jimmy Santiago Lopez Jr., went home to meet his Creator on Monday June 3. He was blessed with two children during his life. Jimmy, served in the United States Army for 4 years and continued to serve our Country 8 more years in The United States Navy from 1974 until 1986. He moved to Sundown in 2021 from Evans, Colorado. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, drawing, playing bingo, spending quality time with family and friends and all his grandchildren. Mary Ellen Sullivan, 81, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024. She was born in Maquoketa, Iowa on July 7, 1942. She is the daughter of the late Owen H. and Mary M. Seamands. Mary Ellen graduated from Monte Casino High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1960 and later she received a bachelor degree from Loretto Heights College in Denver Colorado, a master’s in nursing from the University of Arizona and a master’s in psychology from Eastern New Mexico.
