NEW PARKING - Construction for the new parking lot located in downtown Levelland at the corner of Avenue H and Austin Street is complete and open for parking. Hockley County Judge Sharla Baldridge provided an update on the parking lot project sharing that there are final phases in plan before the parking lot can be 100% completed, but parking will be available. Two of the final touches needed are landscaping along the north side of the parking lot and the highly anticipated mural that will be painted on the wall next to the parking lot. Baldridge explained the muralist is set to begin June 1 and it is expected to take approximately one month to complete the mural. “This project has progressed nicely and we are excited to be able to offer more downtown parking for events on the square as well as parking for county employees at the Annex Building,” said Baldridge. “This parking lot should free up parking in front of the Annex Building for customers needing to visit the Tax Office, Elections Office, Justice of the Peace #5 and the Driver’s License Office. The parking in this area has been an issue in the past and we look forward to this being a solution for additional parking as well as beautification to this area.” (Staff photo by Emily Campos)
