The Levelland Lobos picked up their first district win of the season at home against the Lamesa Tornadoes last Saturday, 7-2.

The Lobos are now 1-2 in district play and 6-10 on the season.

There was not much offensive action in the first couple of innings.

Going into the third inning of play, the game remained deadlocked at 0-0.

In the bottom of the third, Levelland broke the 0-0 tie sparked by a Tameron Duran double.

Duran scored later during the inning to give Levelland a 1-0 lead over Lamesa.

Lamesa answered with a run of their own in the top of the fourth to tie the game at 1-1 after three and a half innings of play.

In the bottom half of the fourth inning, the Lobos scored one run and reclaimed the lead, 2-1.

Zack Estrada brought home a run with an RBI single.

Each team put a zero on the board during the fifth inning, and the scored remained 2-1 in Levelland’s favor after five. In the top of the sixth, Lamesa once again pulled even with the Lobos and the game was tied, 2-2.

Levelland rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning, and put five runs on the board.

Estrada drove in his second run of the game with an RBI single that plated Jacob Ochoa.

The runs continued to pile up for the Lobos during the sixth inning and Levelland took a 7-2 lead.

Jeff Elliott came in as the Lobos closer in the top of the seventh.

Elliott retired the side in order and picked up the save for Levelland.

Levelland scored seven runs off of eight hits and committed one error.

Zack Estrada led the Lobos’ offense with a 2-2 performance at the plate.

Estrada also scored twice and had two RBIs.

Tameron Duran finished the game 3-4 at the plate and had one RBI.

Nolberto Pena finished the game 2-4 at the plate and had two RBIs.

Jacob Ochoa finished the game 1-2 at the plate.

Estrada and Duran each stole one base during the game last Saturday.

Nick Gerber started on the hill for the Lobos.

Gerber allowed only one hit against Lamesa, gave up one earned run, walked two batters and struck out five in six innings of work.

Levelland continued district play in Snyder Tuesday and will host the Estacado Friday.
