Investigators with the criminal investigations division of the Levelland Police Department arrested Rosita Escarcega, 40, Wednesday after executing a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Pecan.

As a result of the search warrant, police found about 2.5 ounces of methamphetamine, or 74 grams. Escarcega was charged with manufacture, delivery, of a controlled substance between four and 200 grams.

Earlier that morning, officers were requested to the residence in reference to a narcotics complaint.

A man told police he had taken a video of his girlfriend that morning holding a bag containing an unknown amount of narcotics. The man said he was the owner of the home where the video was recorded and said police had his permission to enter the home.

Police made contact with the woman, who was identified as Escarcega, at the home and entered the residence. Inside, they found a purse that Escarcega said belonged to her. Escarcega gave police permission to search the purse and officers found a baggie containing a white, crystal-like substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. It weighed 1.5 grams.

At that time, Escarcega was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one, between one and four grams. She was then transported to the jail.

The man then showed police the video of the woman holding a larger bag of narcotics in the home where the smaller amount was found.

Investigators were requested to the scene and were able to secure a search warrant for the home.

As a result of the search warrant, police located a bag containing approximately 2.5 ounces of methamphetamine, or 74 grams. Escarcega was subsequently charged with manufacture, delivery, of a controlled substance, penalty group one, between four and 200 grams.

She is being held at the jail on a bond of $10,000 for the charge of manufacture, delivery of a controlled substance between four and 200 grams. She is also being held on a bond of $5,000 for the possession of a controlled substance between one and four grams. Jail records indicated Escarcega also has a warrant for a parole violation, for which bond has not been set.
