The Levelland Police Department in conjunction with the Texas Rangers are seeking the public's help in locating a newborn baby who may be in danger.

Levelland police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Maria Barrientez for kidnapping. According to police, on November 21, Texas Child Protective Services removed the newborn baby, Jaylee Deleon, from the custody of her mother, Barrientez, because both tested positive for methamphetamine and opium.

The baby was placed with her paternal grandmother. Police say on November 23, Barrientez went to the grandmother's residence at 1404 11th Street in Levelland and took the child while the grandmother was not in the room. No vehicle was seen by the grandmother and Barrientez entered the residence barefoot, according to reports.

Barrientez reportedly has ties to Pueblo and Greeley, Colorado; and Clovis, New Mexico. Jaylee Deleon has been entered into the NCIC/TCIC as a missing endangered person.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Levelland Police Department immediately by calling (806) 894-6164.
